The Pillar of wisdom
A word from our worshipful master - Art Manchester

New E-mail for our Worshipful Master is WorshipfulMaster@oakvillemasoniclodge.org

Brothers, it is that time again.  Our Official Visit of the Grand Lecturer will be held on Monday, August 25, 2008.  If you are looking to earn your Lecturer's Card, Proficiency Card or are up for renewal of a card, you need to be at the Lodge on that night.  In the time between we will be schooling on Mondays and Thursdays.  On August 18, 2008, we will have the pleasure of an official visitation of Brother Jerry Hanson, the Most Worshipful Grand Master of the State of Tennessee.  We will also be conferring a Master Mason's Degree on that evening.  I invite each of you to attend this special event.

Secretary's Desk

If you want a Masonic funeral, please let me know so I can make a notation on your file.

Help us save money on our newsletter mailings by keeping the Secretary informed of your current address.

Brothers, it's dues time again. Thanks for your patience last year and for those brothers who have already paid this year's dues. The dues notices have been mailed but due to a problem with the Post Office, Brothers whose last names begin with the letters "M" through "Z" did not receive their notices.  These notices are being remailed.  If you get a second notice and have already paid, please disregard this notice and thanks for your patience in this matter.  The dues schedule is as follows:

Member Type

(If you have NOT paid the full Grand Lodge Assessment)

(If you HAVE paid the full Grand Lodge Assessment)

Regular Members $51.00 $41.00
Past Masters $26.00 $16.00

Deaths
Brother Edward A. Wright July 28, 2008
Brother Thomas H. Emerson died on July 17, 2007 but, we have just learned of his death.

Our deepest sympathies are with each of these families.

sickness
We have several brothers who are dealing with illnesses who would appreciate your thoughts and prayers.

Building Committee
We have repaired the damage to the walls caused by the leak. The floor project has begun.  We have picked out the tile and will be replacing the tile on the floors in the dining hall, Lodge foyer and restrooms.  Work on the floors should be complete by August 18, 2008.  We are in the process of changing pest control service providers.  Once the floor is in, James pest Control will be doing their initial treatment and will then begin providing our annual termite and pest control service.  The change in pest control providers will amount to a substantial savings annually for the Lodge.  The Building Committee is also looking into other needed improvements and will bring these before the Lodge in the future.

information technology
The calendar portion of the Oakville website has undergone a much needed upgrade.  The Webmaster has divided the entries into three categories and color coded each category.  Items in blue are Masonic lodge events.  Items in pink are appendent bodies of the Masonic fraternity that allow female members, such as the Order of the Eastern Star, The Amaranth, Rainbow for Girls, etc.  Items in black are appendent bodies that only allow male members such as the Scottish Rite, York Rite and Shrine.  The color coding only applies to the organization and NOT the event.  Many of the events of the various bodies are open so read the event description for details as to who can attend.  An example is a Lodge Stated Meeting would be in blue and is onlyopen to Master Masons, likewise the same Lodge's Open Installation of officers would also be in blue but, unlike the Stated Meeting this meeting is open to everyone.

We have also received several new awards which help the webmaster to judge the effectiveness of the site and point out changes to hopefully improve the site.
