MASONIC EDUCATION

mASONIC EDUCATION

This page is being developed as a source of Masonic educational articles and resources in an attempt to encourage brothers to actively strive towards additional enlightenment.  It is also intended as a means of enlightening our brothers into the philosophy of the fraternity.

This is our first installment of a Masonic Education Page.  While contemplating where to begin, I decided to start with a foundation on which we can build.  A Mason is encouraged to broaden his knowledge and understanding.  There are several avenues that can be taken to attain this information.  We can read appropriate material or interact and discuss with more informed brethren or better yet, a combination of both.  This enlightenment is not solely limited to the ritual work but, to those ideals and philosophies that form the basis of our order.  For those who wish to enter the officers line, additional study relating to management and basic business operations should be considered.  This leads us to the foundation I have chosen.  Our Brothers at the Scottish Rite Valley of Guthrie in the Orient of Oklahoma have developed a reading list for Masons.  I am reprinting that list here.  These books will serve the educational pursuits of any and all Masons.  I hope that each of you will take advantage of this list, as I have, by making a copy to serve as a reading list.

Guthrie Scottish Rite A.A.S.R. Reading List

This web page is designed to assist members of the Masonic Fraternity in selecting books which will make worthwhile additions to their Masonic library. It is not intended that these be viewed as a “top ten” list; rather that the books listed here are generally accepted by Masonic scholars to be reliable guides to Masonic knowledge. For the most part, they can also still be found on the Internet, Masonic Supply companies, and/or regular bookstores.
